LOCATION

 

Cortijo San Rafael is situated in an exclusive development between Nerja and Frigiliana Village.   Easy access makes it  only a 5 minute drive both to the beaches of Nerja and to the beautiful whitewashed village of Frigiliana.

 

Nerja town, by day or by night is a great place to  wander through the maze of streets abundant with shops, restaurants and bars.  Great beaches and the Balcon de Europa are all part of what makes Nerja such a special place to visit.

 

Frigiliana is a beautiful white washed village steeped in history. Stroll through the picturesque maze of cobbled streets and ally ways past the Mediterranean blue front doors and flowerpots overflowing with colour -- for this is, a small corner of Andalucia at its best!

 

Even with such an array of activities in the area to choose from, guests are so captivated by its magnificence and splendor that rarely do they venture far from  Cortijo San Rafael!

Nerja area
Nerja is a beautiful and authentic Spanish town that has managed to fight the high rise resorts of the west of Malaga, with the Almijara mountains coming down to the sea forming cliffs and coves as well as the 1 km long Burriana Beach. The famous Nerja caves, natural parks and beaches all add to Nerja's appeal and are a draw for families and couples alike.

The numerous amounts of activities in the area are, Beach, walking, swimming, horse riding, paragliding, great food and general relaxed atmosphere. In addition as the motorway now reaches Nerja various locations can be visited such as Granada (1 hour), Skiing (1.5 hours), Seville (2.5 hours), Cordoba (2.5 hours) and of course Malaga City (50min). In addition to this Nerja is well known for its sophisticated night life and fantastic food rather than clubs and bars, with a welcoming and family or couple approach, unlike many other resorts. In addition the cliffs in the area are home to some of the best diving in Spain!

The Costa del Sol/Malaga region
The Nerja Caves, one of Spain's biggest tourist attractions, are well worth a visit. A extensive network of fascinating underground caverns with the World's biggest stalactites, plus an auditorium and stage where the annual music and arts festival takes place. Nearby is Maro, a picturesque village with panoramic views across the sea and a small-secluded beach, invisible from the cliff top. The mountains shelter many small attractive villages, notably Frigiliana with its restored Roman town and narrow vehicle-free cobbled streets.

Further afield is the historic city of Granada and the famous Alhambra Palace (pre-booking advised), or perhaps a trip to Malaga and the new Picasso Museum. Marbella and Puerto Banus also provide a great day out, as do visits to Mijas, Antequera and the El Torcal National Park. For winter visitors, the 'Sierra Nevada' ski resort, near Granada, is about two hours drive away.
